Vintage Alice in Wonderland Party

My mom (Alice) LOVES all things Alice and Wonderland.  Books, movies, dishes and teapots—she has them all.  So, for her 55th birthday, I wanted to throw her a special dinner party.
I made a cute and quirky invitation, which I thought was very Lewis Carroll.

I designed the menu to be light and summery—full of fresh seasonal produce.

I made individual place cards.

I (more like my husband—ever the pyro) charred the edges of the place cards to look as if they were found items.
Each place card had a character and a quote from that character on it.  I was Tweedle Dee—feel free to draw your own conclusions...

I also made the cupcake toppers with the same image that was used on the menu card and the invitation.
I bought store made cupcakes without icing, so that I could add my personal touch to them.  I filled the vanilla cupcakes with marshmallow fluff and topped them with a banana butter cream frosting—I was inspired by one of her favorite desserts, the banana moon pie.
It was a great party!  We were very fortunate to have family from Indiana and Texas join us to celebrate—which made it a truly special occasion.  I probably could have served tea and cookies and it would have been fantastic because of WHO was there not WHAT was there—which says a lot.

  1. That looks so gorgeous! I'd love to download your cupcake toppers. Do you still have them?
